Kanagawa Prefectural Government is holding Kanagawa Citizen Cultural Festival from September to December, for three months centered around Culture Day on November 3. Hopefully, many of you will join and enjoy various cultural and artistic activities taking place throughout the prefecture. Through these activities, we aim to create vibrant community where people feel connected with each other.
Over 150 cultural events are held in many locations, offering enjoyment for all ages from children to elderlies. Here are some of the highlights.
In October, Sagami-ko Outdoor Ballet Festival will take place, including a two-act performance of “Giselle,” produced by the prefectural government.
In November, the Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center will host a performance of Bunraku puppet theater, a representative classical art form recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Meanwhile, Kanagawa Plaza for Global Citizenship will host the Earth Festa Kanagawa 2025, themed on “Fostering multicultural coexistence society.” Also, at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, the 2nd Kanagawa “Tomo-iki (or living together)” Art Exhibition will be held aiming for realization of an inclusive society.
In December, “Kanagawa Re-classics Project” will take place at Yokosuka City Culture Hall. (Re-classics Project is an effort of restoring traditional culture and disseminating it with new ideas.) Focusing on various aspects of lifestyles in the Miura Peninsula, this project features traditional performing arts passed down for generations in the region. English subtitles will be provided during the performance so that non-Japanese visitors can fully enjoy it. A wide variety of events across different genres will also be held.
In addition, a giveaway campaign is now underway. Winners will receive prizes related to Kanagawa Prefecture. If you live in Japan, you can enter the campaign by following the official X account (@MAGCUL) of Magcul.net and reposting (retweeting) the official account's campaign post (tweet). We look forward to your entries.
