Information on the Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19) Available

There are various assistance programs available.  Utilize the ones applicable to you.
We offer programs to support citizens having anxieties about livelihood, suffering from a shortage of living fund, or unable to pay tax or insurance premiums due to business closure/non-payment of wages/pay cut.

Income decreased due to the infection’s influence
Temporary special benefit for households excluded from levy of the inhabitant tax

Households whose members are all excluded from levy of the inhabitant tax on per capita basis for FY2021 or FY2022 and households put into financial situation equivalent to non-taxables due to an income drop in Jan. 2022 and after may be eligible for the benefit.

  • \100,000 per household

*Applications accepted until the end of September 2022

Support fund and allowance for the leave forced to be taken under the COVID-19 outbreak

Financial support will be given to employees who had to take leave from work and have not received leave allowance. 80% of the wages paid before the leave(\11,000 per day at the maximum))

*Application for benefit for the period from October 2021 to March 2022 will be accepted until June 30, 2022.

Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance benefits for absence from work

If approved as being infected with COVID-19 through work and developed symptoms, you are covered by the workers’ accident compensation benefits.(Compensation for 80% of average wage).

In case your wages are not paid or reduced due to your infection/suspected infection with the novel coronavirus, you may be eligible to receive invalidity benefit.

Housing benefit

Amount equivalent to the rent will be provided (upper limit is fixed) to people who might possibly lose residence due to reduced income by business closure, absence from work, etc.

*People whose payment once ended are eligible for repayment of the benefit for three months by the end of August 2022.

Elementary school is temporarily closed
Subsidy for Elementary School Closure Response, etc. (Special counseling)

Business operator is eligible for this subsidy when it allows its employees who need to take care of their elementary school children to take paid leave (with wages fully paid) in addition to the annual paid leave based on the Labour Standards Acts, responding to temporary school closure, etc.

Mainly for those who suspended business operation

  • Loan without interest Up to \200,000
  • Deferment period
    One year or less from the date of the loan made

For loans whose repayment date comes before the end of December 2022, the grace period can be extended.

  • For loans applied in April 2022 and after, the grace period can be extended by the end of December 2023.
  • Repayment period
    Within two years

Loan for general expenses (Assistance for living expenses)
Funds for living expenses Mainly for those who lost jobs

  • Loan without interest Single-person households: \150,000 or less per month
  • Loan without interest Households with two or more: \200,000 or less per month
  • Deferment period
    One year or less from the date of the loan made

For loans whose repayment date comes before the end of December 2022, the grace period can be extended.

  • For loans applied in April 2022 and after, the grace period can be extended by the end of December 2023.
  • Repayment period
    Within ten years

*Those who repaid emergency small loans or/and loan for general expenses may be eligible for loan for general expenses again.

Self-reliance support benefit for households suffering financially from the COVID-19 Pandemic

Families who repaid the first emergency small amount loan/loan for general expenses may be eligible for the benefit.

  • Single households:¥60,000 per month
  • Households with two people: \80,000 per month
  • Households with three people or more: \100,000 per month

Cannot pay taxes

If you are unable to pay taxes due to circumstances, there is a system to give a grace period.

If you are temporarily unable to pay the premium of national pension due to unemployment, etc., you may be exempted from the payment or given a grace period if certain requirements are met.
