GREEN×EXPO 2027 begins in March 2027 in Yokohama City, Kanagawa. The Expo disseminates the ideas for creating a sustainable society harmonized with nature and of contentment as people relate to flowers and greenery. The Expo will be held for 6 months, conveying messages of friendship and peace for the future.

“Vibrant INOCHI” is the main theme presented by Kanagawa Prefectural Government at the EXPO. In order to liven up the EXPO, the Government created a children’s book focusing on this theme and global warming to communicate with a wide range of generations with emphasis on children. Copies of the book will be distributed to pre-schools, elementary schools and libraries in Kanagawa and published by Kodansha for sale. Currently, the storytelling video read by Hidehiko Ishizuka, a comedian and a member of the EXPO cheering team, is available on the following YouTube channel, Bom-Bom Academy. The accessible reading video is also available for a wide variety of audience, including those with reading difficulties.

picturebookThe story begins with a school setting where the students are the constituents of air, such as oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Niko, carbon dioxide (CO2), blames himself, “Is global warming all because of me?” Getting out of school, Niko meets Saku, and two of them go on an adventurous journey to stop global warming.

The story goes that the earth is getting warmer and warmer each day. Niko and Saku see people trying hard to reduce CO2 levels to resolve issues such as sea level rise and extreme weather. Who is responsible for increasing CO2? Let’s look for solutions for tackling global warming together!

This book is created in cooperation with three hundred children. The book is recommended to parents who want to answer their children’s questions and teach them kindness to others. This is an excellent science book that makes children feel proud!
