Kamakurabori-Kougeikan
The Kamakura sculpture is a traditional wood carving technique which has been developed to make Buddhist furniture in the Kamakura period. Here, the Kamakura Crafts Museum exhibits and sells works by Kamakura sculptors,by the Kamakura project cooperative association. We also hold classrooms where you can experience Kamakura sculptures with group classes (ages elementary school students and above). In addition to the hands-on classes, there are also lecture sessions where craftsmen teach processes such as “sharpening workshops” to study how to sharpen knives, designs, lacquer work, so if you are interested please contact us.
