Tenjin Island Rinkai Nature Education Garden · Tenjima Island Visitor Center

This natural environment protection facility is located on the coast of Miura Peninsula. They protect all the beautiful sceneries such as the sea and coastal plants and animals, Mt. Fuji, Izu Peninsula, and Izu Oshima. There is also hamaomoto (type of flower) growing wild on the premises. In 1953, Tenjin Island’s hamaomoto was designated and regarded as a protected species of Kanagawa Prefecture as the northern limit of its natural distribution. In 1965, the surrounding waters of Tenjin Island’s Kasashima was included as a place of scenic beauty and was designated as a natural monument. Then in the following year of 1966, the facility became a museum.
