Goryogadai Shell Mounds

The Goryogadai kaizuka, is the ruins of shell mounds from the middle Jomon period, located on the east-west slope of the tongue shaped plateau that protrudes the easternmost end of the Oiso hill. A number of surveys have found a large amount of Jomon pottery, stoneware, bones of fish and birds and shells, etc. During the middle of the Jomon period, the sea entered this area, and it seems there there were many fish that lived here.
