Summer Purification
The Summer Purification is a Shinto ritual that has been passed down since ancient times, where people pass through a “Chinowa” ring made of thatch to receive the life force of the green thatch, in order to be able to live healthy through the hot summer without contracting epidemics or plagues that are common during the rainy season.
At Morito Daimyojin Shrine, a kaya ring is usually set up in late June. Why not purify your mind and body and have a purification ceremony so that you can greet each day with a fresh feeling?
