The Oiso Market began as an initiative to bring back a vibrant Oiso where younger generations can play an active role, while preserving the town’s unique character shaped by its long history as a popular villa resort.
Held every month at Oiso Port, the Oiso Market fills the harbor with a wide variety of booths featuring seafood, food and drinks, fresh produce, local specialties, crafts, goods, and more. In addition to dining and shopping, visitors can enjoy live music and dance performances in the lawn area.

Along with seafood, the market offers a variety of delicious food, including freshly made pizza and hamburgers from food trucks. There are also areas where you can enjoy activities such as all-you-can-fill fresh fish, shop for freshly harvested vegetables and local specialties, and browse a diverse selection of handmade items and goods.
Many visitors also bring their dogs, and you’ll find plenty of vendors offering pet-related products and services.
With every market bringing new discoveries and fun encounters, there’s always something different to enjoy.

Within walking distance of Oiso Port, you’ll find numerous places where you can experience the town’s rich history and culture. One of them is the Meiji Memorial Oiso Residence Garden, where visitors can explore historic residences and beautiful gardens.
The site brings together residences and gardens associated with prominent political figures who played important roles in Japan during the Meiji era, with several related buildings still preserved today.
The gardens feature a blend of Japanese and Western styles, including a rose garden, offering visitors the opportunity to take their time enjoying the scenery throughout the seasons.

Nearby, the former residence of renowned novelist Toson Shimazaki (1872–1943), where he spent approximately the last two years of his life, has been preserved.
Known as Machiyaen, Toson’s former home is a simple, single-story, three-room traditional Japanese house. The exterior walls are covered with cedar bark, while Taisho-era glass is used in the sliding doors. The residence also features a simple traditional gate and a small garden enclosed by a bamboo fence, allowing visitors to get a glimpse of what the home was like during his time.

Across from the Former Residence of Toson Shimazaki, you’ll find Koyurugian, a traditional Japanese house cafe, where a former villa has been renovated and now serves as a café.
Step inside and you’ll find a peaceful, calming space that feels worlds away from everyday life, with a serene moss garden and seating areas where you can enjoy the view.

For a savory treat, try the café’s crispy and flavorful galette, a crepe made with stone-ground buckwheat flour. For dessert, you can enjoy seasonal tarts made with locally grown fruit. Why not take a break and enjoy a quiet moment here?

A little farther on, you’ll find Oiso Joyama Park, a spacious 10-hectare park surrounded by lush greenery. Here, you can enjoy seasonal flowers such as roses and Japanese maples, as well as explore traditional Japanese-style tea rooms and a local history museum scattered throughout the grounds.
From the observation deck, you can enjoy views of the SHONAN coast. On clear days, you can also see Mt. Fuji, the Hakone mountain range, and the Izu Peninsula. It’s a wonderful place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the scenery.
Within the park is Jozan-an, a tea house modeled after Jo-an, a National Treasure tea room. Visitors can enjoy matcha while taking in the traditional tea house and garden, making it a perfect place to experience a moment of tranquility.

For a refreshing outing with beautiful scenery, Komayama Park, including Shonandaira, is another recommended spot to visit while exploring Oiso. The park stretches across Oiso Town and Hiratsuka City and features the Shonandaira Zone, where you can enjoy views of the SHONAN coast and spectacular scenery, and the Sengenyama Zone, where you can immerse yourself in nature.
The park’s prominent TV tower features a staircase, and from the upper levels, you can enjoy views of the SHONAN coast and the surrounding mountains.
The observation deck at the rest house also features a love-lock monument, making it a popular spot for commemorative photos. You can also take a break with a light meal at the restaurant or shop, or enjoy the playground equipment overlooking the sea—there are plenty of ways to spend your time according to your interests.
