information on corona
One and a half months have passed since the priority measures to prevent the spread of the disease was applied to Kanagawa Prefecture. The number of new infection cases remains high, and the situation of medical institutions has been strained as shown by the hospital bed occupation rate, one of the indicators of medical resource shortage, which now stands at about 70%.
Against this background, the national government decided to extend the period of the priority measures to March 21.
It gives me pain to place continued burden on the prefectural citizens and business operators, but I would like to ask for your cooperation to lift the priority measures on the set date.
Take basic precautions on every occasion in your life. Especially, if you live with the elderly or those with underlying illnesses, be sure to prevent transmitting the virus to them by taking necessary measures such as wearing a mask even at home.
We ask for continued cooperation of eating establishments in measures such as shortened business hours and limited number of customers at a table.
To save lives that can be saved, Kanagawa Prefectural Government raised the phase of the number of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients to “Special Emergency Phase”, making utmost efforts to respond to the situation together with medical institutions.
The key to overcome this difficulty is the third vaccination to reduce the risk of developing severe symptoms. We are working on smooth vaccine rollout in cooperation with the municipalities. Prefectural citizens are requested to confirm the correct information on the shots and get vaccinated at an early occasion. I ask for your understanding and cooperation.
