Governor’s message on the declaration of a state of emergency (Apr. 7, 2020)
To avoid an explosive surge in infections

To Kanagawa citizens,

It is said that if each citizen reduces person-to-person contacts by 80%, we can contain the coronavirus outbreak in one month. I strongly request that each of you refrain from going out until Wednesday, May 6, 2020 (substitute holiday), especially in nighttime, excluding it is necessary for living.

Necessary outing for living may include shopping for food and groceries, visiting medical institutions and commuting. Please take appropriate actions according to your lifestyle.

When you have to go out, avoid “closed settings”, “crowds” and “close contacts”. Please try to work at home as much as possible.

There is no need of hoarding everyday commodities such as food and groceries, because you can buy them as usual.

Visit to entertainment facilities like cabarets and nightclubs and food establishments with entertainment in a downtown area may cause further spread of infections, so please stay away from these places.

I also ask you to avoid non-essential or non-urgent travels between prefectures, including even visit to your hometowns.
