ORGANIZATION OF THE CENTER

Administration and Planning Section

• Administration and Planning Section is responsible for planning and coordination of new programs, and publication of the newsletters, etc. The Section also manages and operates Center's facility and equipment.
  
• The Section operates "Kanagawa Women's Career Support Center" to assist women in displaying their ability, and entering employment or starting their own businesses.
  
  

Research and Information Section

• Research and Information Section conducts research and study that lead to development of practical methods for solving women's problems. The Section provides information on domestic and overseas women's issues, and runs "Kanagawa Women's Challenge Support Site", etc. on its website.
  
• The Section also operates the library which has books specialized in women's issues.
  
• The Section issues brochures on domestic violence and counseling services for foreign residents.
  
  

Empowerment Promotion Section

• Empowerment Promotion Section holds lectures and seminars to nurture women who can participate in various decision-making processes, and to assist women in starting their own businesses. It also holds lectures and seminars to encourage men's participation in community and family activities, etc.
  
• The Section holds seminars to nurture citizens who can take active roles for realization of gender-equal society, and to improve media literacy, etc.
  

Counseling Section

• As the comprehensive support for women, Counseling Section provides counseling services to solve women's problems and anxiety, such as sexual harassment, in coordination with the organizations concerned and specialists including lawyers and psychiatrists.
  
• The Section conducts activities as "Spousal Violence Counseling and Support Center" based on the "Law for the Prevention of Spousal Violence and the Protection of Victims". Please see below for counseling service information on violence against women.
  

FACILITIES/SERVICES

The Center is.........

• open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 to 21:00 (to 17:00 on Sundays)
• closed on Mondays and National Holidays, except the Holiday falls on either Friday, Saturday, Sunday. In the case that the holiday falls on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday, closed on the next Tuesday instead.
• closed from December 28 to January 4.
• Library may be closed on the days other than the above due to arrangement of the materials.
• Men and boys can also avail the facilities.

LIBRARY

The library has some 100 thousands of books and materials on women. It provides information on women's issues as well as assistance for searching the related materials. Regardless of either Kanagawa citizen or not, both women and men can avail the services. The resources are mostly written in Japanese, however, it has some English materials including newspapers such as Japan Times and Herald Tribune.
The library members can borrow ten (10) books for three (3) weeks. Please present your ID at the counter to apply for the membership.

Library Service Information

COUNSELING SERVICES ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The counseling services are provided free of charge by female counselors. Your personal information is strictly held confidential. We also provide child-care service when you receive the counseling.
Counseling services are available from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00 (from 9:00 to 12:00 on Thurs.) on business days of the center. Please call 0466-27-9799 for the service. The counseling is conducted only in Japanese at the Kanagawa Women's Center.
