Kanagawa Women's Center is promoting empowerment of women and equal participation of both women and men in all aspects of the society. The center envisions a gender-equal society where every person can express and exercise one's individuality and ability regardless of one's gender. For the realization of this "gender-equal society", the center carries out a variety of activities.
The Center is committed to protect and promote the human rights of women through working on the issues such as violence against women (VAW) and sexual harassment and providing services to assist self-sustainability of women.
The Center is.........
The library has some 100 thousands of books and materials on women. It provides
information on women's issues as well as assistance for searching the
related materials. Regardless of either Kanagawa citizen or not, both
women and men can avail the services. The resources are mostly written in
Japanese, however, it has some English materials including newspapers such
as Japan Times and Herald Tribune.
The library members can borrow ten
(10) books for three (3) weeks. Please present your ID at the counter to
apply for the membership.
The counseling services are provided free of charge by female counselors. Your personal information is strictly held confidential. We also provide child-care service when you receive the counseling.
Counseling services are available from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00 (from 9:00 to 12:00 on Thurs.) on business days of the center. Please call 0466-27-9799 for the service. The counseling is conducted only in Japanese at the Kanagawa Women's Center.
