Information on Hakone & Owakudani
Owakudani-enchi and Operation of Hakone Ropeway Reopened on July 26
From Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Owakudani-enchi is opened to the public again at 9:00. Visitors can enter part of Owakudani-enchi between 9:00 and 17:00.
Please be noted that access to the hiking trails and nature observation path in the Owakudani area is still prohibited.
At 13:00 on July 26, the services of Hakone Ropeway between Sounzan Sta. and Owakudani Sta. were resumed. With this, in addition to the already started services for the section between Owakudani Sta. and Togendai Sta., Hakone Ropeway restarted its operation for the entire section between Sounzan Sta. and Togendai Sta.

Current Status of Restriction
Warning zone in the Owakudani area
Currently, the assumed crater area (within a radius of 440 to 530m), the circled area on the map, is designated as the warning zone.
However, from Tuesday, July 26, 2016, Owakudani-enchi, excluding the hiking trails and nature observation path, is opened between 9:00 and 17:00.
*Warning zone is designated by the mayor based on the Basic Act on Disaster Control Measures. Restriction of entrance into the zone has legal force.
Traffic closure on the Prefectural Road
The traffic is closed between Owakudani-sansaro (three-forked road) and Owakudani-enchi Parking on the Prefectural Road 734 (Owakudani-kowakudani line).
However, from Tuesday, July 26, 2016, the Road is opened between 9:00 and 17:00.
Traffic restriction may be changed depending on the state of volcanic activities.
Public transport service sections not in operation
The services for the section between Sounzan Sta. and Osakudani Sta. were suspended. However, at 13:00 on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, the services were resumed.
The alternative bus service will remain in service in the zones mentioned below.
Sounzan Station - Ubako Station - Togendai Station*
*There is no transportation that services Owakudani Station.

Fixed-route bus services
Excluding the section between “Kokuyurin-mae” bus stop and “Owakudani” bus stop, all the bus services have been operated as usual since Monday, September 14.
At 9:00, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, all the bus services were back to normal operation.
Partially closed between Bogasawa, Mt. Koma-gatake, Owakudani Valley, Sounzan Sta. and Ubako Sta. (about 3km in total).
Facilities, transportation systems and roads in other areas than Owakudani are not suspended and operated as usual.
