Information on Hakone & Owakudani
Hakone Ropeway – Ubako Station ~ Owakudani Station section in operation again from April 23
From noon April 23, the Ubako Station ~ Owakudani Station section of the Hakone Ropeway will resume service.
It will be possible to not only ride the ropeway on the already resumed Togendai Station ~ Ubako Station section, but also on to Owakudani Station.
However, at Owakudani Station, it is not permitted to leave the station building. (Owakudani-enchi is off limits.)
Please note that the Owakudani Station ~ Sounzan Station section will continue to be out of service.

Volcanic Alert Level Lowered to Level 1 by the Meteorological Agency
The Meteorological Agency lowered the volcanic alert level for Mt. Hakone (around the Owakudani area) to Level 1 (which requires to be mindful that the volcano is potentially active) at 2:00 p.m. on November 20.
Entrance to the designated warning zone in the Owakudani area is still restricted until its safety is ensured.
The Hakone Roapway has partially resumed operations.

Present warning zone
Currently, the assumed crater area (within a radius of 440 to 530m), the circled area on the map, is designated as the warning zone.
*Warning zone is designated by the mayor based on the Basic Act on Disaster Control Measures. Restriction of entrance into the zone has legal force.
Traffic closure on the Prefectural Road
The traffic is closed between Owakudani-sansaro (three-forked road) and Owakudani-enchi Parking on the Prefectural Road 734 (Owakudani-kowakudani line). Traffic restriction may be changed depending on the state of volcanic activities.
Public transport service sections not in operation
From April 23, only the Owakudani Station ~ Sounzan Station section will be out of operation (The Ubako Station ~ Owakudani Station section is scheduled to resume service at noon April 23).
However, at Owakudani Station, it is not permitted to leave the station building.
The alternative bus service will remain in service in the zones mentioned below.
Sounzan Station - Ubako Station - Togendai Station*
*There is no transportation that services Owakudani Station.

Fixed-route bus services
Excluding the section between “Kokuyurin-mae” bus stop and “Owakudani” bus stop, all the bus services have been operated as usual since Monday, September 14.
Partially closed between Bogasawa, Mt. Koma-gatake, Owakudani Valley, Sounzan Sta. and Ubako Sta. (about 3km in total).
Facilities, transportation systems and roads in other areas than Owakudani are not suspended and operated as usual.
