Promotion of Global Strategy

date:2016年2月19日

In order to promote “Healthcare New Frontier” which provides advanced measures needed to respond to a super-aging society, Kanagawa is strengthening the global strategy for overseas expansion of life science related industries and businesses.

In particular, Kanagawa will concentrate its efforts in the overseas expansion of Kanagawa-based industries in US and Europe, which are regions with large markets and are leaders in the medical and healthcare fields, as well as in Asian regions where future growth in these fields can be expected.

Signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Kanagawa is promoting the international expansion of Healthcare New Frontier by signing MOU’s concerning cooperation in, and promotion of, life science and other fields with various relevant organizations in the US and Europe which are advanced regions in the medical and healthcare fields.

In 2014, MOU’s were signed with the states of Maryland and Massachusetts in USA, City of Oulu, Finland and the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Furthermore, in 2015 a MOU concerning comprehensive cooperation in the field of regenerative cell therapy was signed with “Cell Therapy Catapult” of London, which is an English agency for promoting the industrialization of regenerative cell therapy.

Overseas Transmission of Healthcare New Frontier

Governor Kuroiwa has been visiting countries overseas, mainly those with signed MOU’s, and lecturing, about Kanagawa’s Healthcare New Frontier policies. Also, Kanagawa has been welcoming visitors from overseas organizations to tour advanced healthcare facilities in the prefecture. These are some of the initiatives taken by Kanagawa for overseas transmission of Healthcare New Frontier.
