Memorandum of Understanding between Kanagawa Prefecture and the State of Maryland An Education Initiative In order to foster students’ second language communicative competence and promote international understanding, representatives of both regions hereby agreed to expand and strengthen the already existing Sister School relationships via the Internet. The below suggested activities to take place in language (English and Japanese) classes and clubs, student councils, and by student-to-student e-mail exchange: ・ Exchange letters introducing daily life and cultural highlights ・ Share opinions on predetermined themes ・ Write comparative essays on cultural differences ・ Plan and prepare for student/teacher visits ・ Create web pages to facilitate communication Action Items: ・ Representatives from each region will create and exchange lists of schools interested in participating ・ School representatives will contact their designated counterpart to establish communication This memorandum exists in both Japanese and English, both being equally authentic.
