October is Kanagawa Sports Month

Designating October as Kanagawa Sports Month, Kanagawa Prefectural Government (K.P.G.)sportscom holds many events for citizens to try out various sports in a casual setting in cooperation with municipalities and sports organizations.  If you haven't been getting enough exercise lately, this could be a perfect opportunity to try a new sport.

Shinko Sports Kanagawa Prefectural Budokan in Kohoku Ward will hold martial arts trial classes on Sunday, October 25.  You can try out various martial arts popular with foreign nationals, such as Japanese archery, judo, aikido, kendo, karatedo, naginata (long-handled sword wielding), tankendo (short sword kendo) and shorinji-kenpo, free of charge.  For details, please visit the website of Shinko Sports Kanagawa Prefectural Budokan.

November 1 is the day of the recreational sports tournament recreationalsports2026.  Visitors can enjoy various recreational sports such as paddle tennis, boccia, mölkky and indiaca.  It will be a great opportunity to take on sports that you don't often get to try.

Meanwhile, professional sports teams based in Kanagawa are running a collaborative campaign in Kanagawa Sports Month.  Participants in events organized by the sports teams will receive a special free gift.  Municipalities in the prefecture and sports clubs will also hold various events.  For more information, please visit the website.
