Kana-ride @Miura, Kanagawa Version of Rideshare, Kicked Off

In Kanagawa Prefecture, aiming to address the shortage of taxis during nighttime in the Miura area, introduction of rideshare has been discussed and examined in cooperation with taxi companies.  In this new service, people who made registration as a driver beforehand transport passengers for profit with their own cars in the limited time and area.

     

Demonstration test started under the nickname of “Kana-ride @Miura” in the Miura area on April 17, 2024.  The service time is from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. regardless of the days of the week.  As long as the starting point is within Miura City, there is no restriction on the destination.   

Taxi companies, which have know-how of safe operation, are in charge of drivers’ education and operation management.  Drive recorders and in-vehicle cameras are equipped on each car by the companies, enabling situation confirmation on a real time basis, so you can use the service without worry.  The fare is the same as that of ordinary taxis, but in the case of Kana-ride, the fare is to be decided in advance and paid online.  From allocation of a vehicle to settlement, all the process are completed through the taxi app “GO”.  

 

 “Kana-ride” will continue its operation until December 16, 2024.  Registered vehicles bear the logo of Kana-ride so that you can find them easily.  The service is available to anyone if you have the app.  Please try using it if you have a chance.
