information on corona

The summer vacation free from activity restrictions, the first time in three years, is coming to an end.

The number of new infection cases of the novel coronavirus in Kanagawa has remained high, standing at around 10,000, although it is on the decline.  Fever clinics for outpatients are extremely busy and we are still facing serious medical resource shortages.

Against this background, Kanagawa Prefectural Government decided to extend the “Kanagawa declaration of intensive measures against BA. 5”, which was issued for the period between August 2 and 31, to September 30.

The second semester will start at schools.  I would like to ask you to keep taking basic anti-virus measures thoroughly, such as wearing a mask in an appropriate manner and providing effective ventilation, at home, school and workplace.

It is proved that vaccination is effective in preventing infection and serious symptoms.  I ask young people to consider receiving the third shot, and the elderly the fourth if conditions are met.

To reduce burden on fever clinics and hospital beds, please use the voluntary recuperation/notification system by self-testing, excluding those who require regular health condition check.

We will continue our utmost effort in ensuring a system to provide suitable medical treatments to those who need them.

We will strive to overcome this difficult situation together with you.  I ask for your continued understanding and cooperation.
