Message by Governor Kuroiwa

Owing to the efforts of the prefectural citizens and business operators in thoroughly implementing basic prevention measures, we have been able to keep the novel coronavirus infection at a lower level.  I would like to express my deep gratitude to you all for the cooperation.

Against this background, the national government revised its Basic Policies for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control, and decided to ease the restriction on the number of visitors that can be accepted by eating and drinking establishments or events.  It was also decided that no limit will be imposed on the number of visitors even if the state of emergency declaration or priority measures for infection prevention are applied in the future by using the vaccination testing package.

In response to this decision, Kanagawa Prefectural Government (K.P.G.) decided to withdraw today its request to eating and drinking establishments to limit customers in a group to up to four or family members living together, and staying time to be within two hours.

With regard to events with over 5,000 participants, operators are requested to make “Infection Prevention Safety Plan” to be confirmed by K.P.G.  Then they will be allowed to raise the upper limit of the audience size to the capacity of the event venue.  We will start accepting the Infection Prevention Safety Plan from November 25.

K.P.G. will also recommence sales of “Kanagawa Citizens’ Discount Coupon” to give a discount on trips in Kanagawa for the prefectural citizens, and “Go To Eat Meal Coupon” by the national government on December 1.

We will fire up the engine of economy responding appropriately to the economic measures newly set out by the national government.

To prevent resurgence of infection while easing restrictions and promoting social and economic activities, it is important more than anything to continue taking basic prevention measures for the citizens and business operators.

The novel coronavirus has not been completely eliminated.  Now that the year-end and New Year holidays are drawing near, let me ask you to avoid crowded places or places with a high infection risk keeping in mind that the virus is always around us.  Be sure to continue basic antivirus measures of M-A-S-K (M for mask wearing, A for alcoholic disinfection, S for screening using acrylic board and short contacting time and K for keeping social distance and ventilating plus humidifying in winter).
