Message by Governor Kuroiwa

The number of new cases of the novel coronavirus infection is said to be on the decline nationwide.  The national government presented a plan to further relax event restrictions on September 11.

Following suit, Kanagawa Prefectural Government will also relax restrictions on events to be held in the prefecture on September 19.

With this, events can have spectators up to 50% of venue capacity with no ceiling on the number of people in audiences. Events with seating capacity of 10,000 or less where shouting and cheering are not expected can be held at 100% of venue capacity, limiting the maximum number of audiences to 5,000 people. The restrictions will be eased only when the necessary infection prevention measures are taken on the premise that the reviewed infection control guidelines by industry are followed.  Therefore, not all events become free of restrictions at once on September 19. We will notify the state of respective events later.

The situation of Kanagawa still requires caution as the number of hospitalized patients remains almost unchanged, and patients with severe symptoms are on the rise. We are still keeping Kanagawa Alert on to call attention to infection spread.

It is necessary for each one of us to thoroughly implement infection prevention measures keeping in mind that the novel coronavirus is around us.

I once again ask you to practice the following and keep your guard up.

  1. Thoroughly practice infection prevention measures of “MASK”, which stands for
M for mask wearing in an appropriate manner,A for alcoholic disinfection,
S for screening using acrylic boards, etc. and K for keeping social distance and ventilating.
  2. Refrain from dining in a large group. Avoid visiting shops and restaurants where the “List of Measures against COVID-19” is not displayed.
  3. Business operators are advised to use the subsidy programs offered by the prefectural government to carry out stronger countermeasures.

Outbreak of seasonal influenza is anticipated in the coming autumn and winter, and the prefectural government is working on further strengthening of the medical care provision system.

The prefectural government is making its utmost effort to control the epidemic together with medical institutions, prefectural citizens and business operators.  Your kind cooperation in this regard would be highly appreciated.
